The Malayalam film business is booming, bringing in hundreds of crores from a string of hits, whereas other Indian film industries like Bollywood, Telugu, and Tamil are grappling with a disconcerting trend of their films bombing at the box office despite having big stars and lavish budgets. The Malayalam cinema industry has already seen a number of blockbusters and just as many superhits, apparently blasting past the Rs 1,000 crore mark at the global box office, while other sectors are floundering and struggling to rise again.
